Re: Ricciardo to leave Red Bull at end of 2018 season

Ricciardo had almost become the new Webber for Red Bull. They seem to be paying Max for what he is expected to be rather than what he has done; it doesn't reflect the points tallies yet. Melbourne aside, I guess Max is selling more tickets and merchandise. Daniel's complaints in Austria didn't bode ...

Re: French GP 2018

I know a much better set of words to the French anthem. If I was given a choice of three plausible options I doubt I could pick out the actual words, but it has to be the best tune among anthems. Maybe it will get a few extra plays if Ocon or Gasly get in to a top team? Cue the shock win for Haas a...

Re: Le Mans 2018

My bet is that Alonso will win - well he is in the joint best car by a mile - and will then give up F1 for Indycar and a punt at the 500. He would probably do better at Indianapolis with a car, like all the other competitors. Being powered by a pole would probably be more reliable than the Honda en...

F1 theme music

What are people making of this year's official F1 theme? When I first heard it I was a bit underwhelmed, but a few races in and it really started to feel right for F1. It is night and day better than the previous two stings that they would use to launch the official broadcasts. Using it again at the...

Re: Welcome back babblers, its Tuesday

Just saying hello again... we moved house last month, which was a giggle a minute. The legals took forever and we had more than a few days of thinking it would all fall apart - that was with a chain of just three properties. It takes an inordinate number of hours to pack up your home and twice as lo...

Re: F1 Jokes

yeah, short maybe...but it's going to be his year...  Woah, that takes me back. The cover photo for his book with the helmet on the floor seems to represent something, but I can't quite decide what. It is something like a bar chart between what DC has achieved as a man, versus what he ac...

Re: How would you design the "Formula" of F1? (regulations)

Making the rules commercially and/or technically viable is another thing altogether for this thread. I suppose one of the upsides of the early 90s cars was that they still could find a reasonable tow when following another car. Now we only hear about cars losing grip. Perhaps F1 should look at the n...

Re: Halo / Flip-flop

I don't agree with the deflection comments. Overall, it increases protection against small objects. The objective is to protect the head; the hypothetical deflected object is likely to be a reduced energy impact so might end a career rather than a life. Henry Surtees' and Justin Wilson's accidents w...
